In Surah Al-A’raf Ayah 180 Allah says:

وَلِلَّهِ الْأَسْمَاءُ الْحُسْنَىٰ فَادْعُوهُ بِهَا ۖ وَذَرُوا الَّذِينَ يُلْحِدُونَ فِي أَسْمَائِهِ ۚ سَيُجْزَوْنَ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ ‎﴿١٨٠﴾

“And to Allah belong the best names, so invoke Him by them. And leave [the company of] those who practice deviation concerning His names. They will be recompensed for what they have been doing.”

Hadith from Al-Bukhari #7392 which Abu Huraira Reports the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) as saying,

“Allah has ninety-nine Names, one-hundred less one; and he who memorized them all by heart will enter Paradise.” 

Below we put together a complete guide to learning the meaning and benefits of the 99 names of Allah. We also try to provide references to Qur’an verses and hadith which further exemplify these names.

ASMA UL HUSNA WITH MEANING

1.

الرَّحْمَنُ

AR-RAHMAAN
(THE BENEFICENT)

ArRahman

 

AR-RAHMAAN

(The Beneficent) 

He who wills goodness and mercy for all His creatures

Allah is Ar-Rahmaan, The One who blesses all his creation with prosperity and devoid from disparity. He is most merciful, kind and loving towards all creation. He is all inclusive and embraces all.

From the root r-h-m which has the following classical Arabic connotations: to have tenderness, gentleness, kindness to love to have mercy, to have pity to show favor and goodness to have all that is required for beneficence

Before starting any task, say “bismillah hirrahman nirrahim” which means “In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful.” If you start with this you are seeking help through the name of Allah. Without Him nothing can be accomplished.

Say, "He is the Most Merciful; we have believed in Him, and upon Him we have relied. And you will [come to] know who it is that is in clear error." (Quran 67:29)

قُلْ هُوَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ آمَنَّا بِهِ وَعَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا ۖ فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ هُوَ فِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ ‎﴿٢٩﴾‏

“Verily, Allah has one hundred portions of mercy. From one portion the creation has been given mercy by virtue of which there is mutual love between the people and ninety nine portions are reserved for the Day of Resurrection.” Source: Sahih Muslim 2753 Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Muslim.

Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Those who are merciful will be shown mercy by the Most Merciful. Be merciful to those on the earth and the One in the heavens will have mercy upon you.”

الرَّحِيمُ

AR-RAHEEM

 ArRahim

(The Merciful)

He who acts with extreme kindness

He who acts with extreme kindness

Ar-Rahmaan and Ar-Raheem (Ar- Rahim) are two of the names of Allah which refer to Allah’s attribute of being Merciful. Although similarly related the meanings are different. Ar-Rahmaan refers to the vastness of Allah’s mercy, and Ar-Raheem refers specifically to His mercy he bestows on His creation.

Say, “O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah . Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.” (Quran 39:53)

۞ قُلْ يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَىٰ أَنفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِن رَّحْمَةِ اللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ ‎﴿٥٣﴾‏

The Prophet said to us, “Do you think this woman could throw her child in the fire?” We said, “No, not if she is able to stop it.” The Prophet said, “Allah is more merciful to His servants than a mother is to her child.”

On the authority of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Messenger of Allah (pbuh):

“Verily Allah has written down the good deeds and the evil deeds, and then explained it: “Whosoever intended to perform a good deed, but did not do it, then Allah writes it down as a completed good deed. And if he intended to perform it and then did perform it, then Allah writes it down as from ten good deeds up to seven hundred times, up to many times multiplied. And if he intended to perform an evil deed, but did not do it, then Allah writes it down as a complete good deed. And if he intended it [i.e., the evil deed] and then performed it, then Allah writes it down as one evil deed.” [Bukhari & Muslim] 

“Say, "He is the Most Merciful; we have believed in Him, and upon Him we have relied. And you will [come to] know who it is that is in clear error."” (Quran 67:29)

قُلْ هُوَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ آمَنَّا بِهِ وَعَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا ۖ فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ هُوَ فِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ ‎﴿٢٩﴾‏

الْمَلِكُ

AL-MALIK

Malik

(The Eternal Lord)

The Sovereign Lord, The One with the complete Dominion, the One Whose Dominion is clear from imperfection

Allah is Al Malik, the literal meaning in Arabic is “The King”. The One who reigns dominion over the heavens and the earth and everything that resides within them. There is nothing above Him and He is alone.

From the root m-l-k which has the following classical Arabic connotations: to possess, to own exclusively to exercise authority to command to have power over, command, reign to have dominion over, to have ruling power to have kingship

He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him. (Quran 59:23)

هُوَ اللَّهُ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْمَلِكُ الْقُدُّوسُ السَّلَامُ الْمُؤْمِنُ الْمُهَيْمِنُ الْعَزِيزُ الْجَبَّارُ الْمُتَكَبِّرُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ ‎﴿٢٣﴾

Say, “O Allah, Owner of Sovereignty, You give sovereignty to whom You will and You take sovereignty away from whom You will. You honor whom You will and You humble whom You will. In Your hand is [all] good. Indeed, You are over all things competent. (Quran 3:26)

 قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ مَالِكَ الْمُلْكِ تُؤْتِي الْمُلْكَ مَن تَشَاءُ وَتَنزِعُ الْمُلْكَ مِمَّن تَشَاءُ وَتُعِزُّ مَن تَشَاءُ وَتُذِلُّ مَن تَشَاءُ ۖ بِيَدِكَ الْخَيْرُ ۖ إِنَّكَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ ‎﴿٢٦﴾

So exalted is Allah, the Sovereign, the Truth; there is no deity except Him, Lord of the Noble Throne. (Quran 23:116)

فَتَعَالَى اللَّهُ الْمَلِكُ الْحَقُّ ۖ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيمِ ‎﴿١١٦﴾

Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and rivers, in a seat of honor near a Sovereign, Perfect in Ability. (Quran 54:55)

فِي مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِندَ مَلِيكٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍ ‎﴿٥٥﴾‏

So high [above all] is Allah, the Sovereign, the Truth. And, [O Muhammad], do not hasten with [recitation of] the Qur’an before its revelation is completed to you, and say, “My Lord, increase me in knowledge.” (Quran 20:114)

فَتَعَالَى اللَّهُ الْمَلِكُ الْحَقُّ ۗ وَلَا تَعْجَلْ بِالْقُرْآنِ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يُقْضَىٰ إِلَيْكَ وَحْيُهُ ۖ وَقُل رَّبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا ‎﴿١١٤﴾

Allah’s Messenger (pbuh) said, “The most awful name in Allah’s sight on the Day of Resurrection, will be (that of) a man calling himself Malik Al-Amlak (the king of kings).(Sahih al-Bukhari 6205)

الْقُدُّوسُ

AL-QUDDUS

AlQudus

(The Most Sacred / The Most Holy)

The One who is pure from any imperfection and clear from children and adversaries

Allah is free of any imperfection, he has no shortcomings, and evil are not attributed to Him. For all that is perfect and sublime attributes belong to Him.

From the root q-d-s which has the following classical Arabic connotations: to be pure, clean, spotless to be far removed from impurity or imperfection to be holy, sacred, hallowed.

He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him. ( Quran 59:23)

هُوَ اللَّهُ الَّذِي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْمَلِكُ الْقُدُّوسُ السَّلَامُ الْمُؤْمِنُ الْمُهَيْمِنُ الْعَزِيزُ الْجَبَّارُ الْمُتَكَبِّرُ ۚ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ ‎﴿٢٣﴾‏

Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth is exalting Allah, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Exalted in Might, the Wise. ( Quran 62:1)

يُسَبِّحُ لِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ الْعَزِيزِ الْحَكِيمِ ‎﴿١﴾

السَّلاَمُ

AS-SALAM

AsSalam

 

(The Giver of Peace)

The One who is free from every imperfection.

He is the One who grants peace and security to all his creation. Allah is above and beyond all weaknesses, and infliction. He is source of peace and security for mankind. It is mankind that needs peace and security through Him. Breaking away from As-Salam brings disturbance and destruction on oneself.

From the root s-l-m which has the following classical Arabic connotations: to be peaceful, quiet, tranquil, content, friendly, reconciled to be free from imperfections, free from faults, complete, whole, sound to be safe, secure, well, healthy, prosperous

He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him. (Quran Surah Al-Hashr 59:23)

هُوَ اللَّهُ الَّذِي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْمَلِكُ الْقُدُّوسُ السَّلَامُ الْمُؤْمِنُ الْمُهَيْمِنُ الْعَزِيزُ الْجَبَّارُ الْمُتَكَبِّرُ ۚ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ ‎﴿٢٣﴾‏

“And if only the People of the Scripture had believed and feared Allah, We would have removed from them their misdeeds and admitted them to Gardens of Pleasure.” (Quran Surah Al-Ma’idah5:65)

وَلَوْ أَنَّ أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ آمَنُوا وَاتَّقَوْا لَكَفَّرْنَا عَنْهُمْ سَيِّئَاتِهِمْ وَلَأَدْخَلْنَاهُمْ جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ ‎﴿٦٥﴾

Practice and spreading peace yourself to increase your chance of going to Jannah:

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, “You will not enter Paradise until you believe and you will not believe until you love each other. Shall I show you something that, if you did, you would love each other? Spread peace between yourselves.”

الْمُؤْمِنُ

AL-MU’MIN

AlMumin

 

(The Infuser of Faith)

He who acts with extreme kindness

The One who witnessed for Himself that no one is God but Him. And He witnessed for His believers that they are truthful in their belief that no one is God but Him

From the root a-m-n which has the following classical Arabic connotations: to be secure, safe, free from fear to be quiet, tranquil to grant protection, safeguard to be trusted, trustworthy to believe in

He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him. (Quran Surah Al-Hashr 59:23)

هُوَ اللَّهُ الَّذِي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْمَلِكُ الْقُدُّوسُ السَّلَامُ الْمُؤْمِنُ الْمُهَيْمِنُ الْعَزِيزُ الْجَبَّارُ الْمُتَكَبِّرُ ۚ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ ‎﴿٢٣﴾

Indeed, those who have said, “Our Lord is Allah,” and then remained on a right course – there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve. (Quran 46:13)

 إِنَّ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا رَبُّنَا اللَّهُ ثُمَّ اسْتَقَامُوا فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ ‎﴿١٣﴾

“Allah has promised those who have believed among you and done righteous deeds that He will surely grant them succession [to authority] upon the earth just as He granted it to those before them and that He will surely establish for them [therein] their religion which He has preferred for them and that He will surely substitute for them, after their fear, security, [for] they worship Me, not associating anything with Me. But whoever disbelieves after that – then those are the defiantly disobedient. (Quran 24:55)

وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنكُمْ وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَيَسْتَخْلِفَنَّهُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ كَمَا اسْتَخْلَفَ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ وَلَيُمَكِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ دِينَهُمُ الَّذِي ارْتَضَىٰ لَهُمْ وَلَيُبَدِّلَنَّهُم مِّن بَعْدِ خَوْفِهِمْ أَمْنًا ۚ يَعْبُدُونَنِي لَا يُشْرِكُونَ بِي شَيْئًا ۚ وَمَن كَفَرَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْفَاسِقُونَ ‎﴿٥٥﴾

7.

الْمُهَيْمِنُ

AL-MUHAYMIN

AlMuhaymin

 

(The Protector)

The One who witnesses the saying and deeds of His creatures

Al Muhaymin is the one who ensures well being and protection over his creation. He is ever watchful and offers peace and security. He is the trustworthy one who proclaims truth.

From the root h-y-m-n which has the following classical Arabic connotations: to watch over, oversee, protect, guard to be a witness to to offer security and peace to determine what is true to extend a wing (like a hen protecting her chicks)

He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him. (Quran Surah Al-Hashr 59:23)

هُوَ اللَّهُ الَّذِي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْمَلِكُ الْقُدُّوسُ السَّلَامُ الْمُؤْمِنُ الْمُهَيْمِنُ الْعَزِيزُ الْجَبَّارُ الْمُتَكَبِّرُ ۚ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ ‎﴿٢٣﴾

And He is the subjugator over His servants, and He sends over you guardian-angels until, when death comes to one of you, Our messengers take him, and they do not fail [in their duties]. (Quran 6:61)

وَهُوَ الْقَاهِرُ فَوْقَ عِبَادِهِ ۖ وَيُرْسِلُ عَلَيْكُمْ حَفَظَةً حَتَّىٰ إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدَكُمُ الْمَوْتُ تَوَفَّتْهُ رُسُلُنَا وَهُمْ لَا يُفَرِّطُونَ ‎﴿٦١﴾‏

Surely, Allah is witness to all. This is explained in the following verse.

That Day, the people will depart separated [into categories] to be shown [the result of] their deeds. So whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it. (Quran 99:6-8)

يَوْمَئِذٍ يَصْدُرُ النَّاسُ أَشْتَاتًا لِّيُرَوْا أَعْمَالَهُمْ ‎﴿٦﴾‏ فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًا يَرَهُ ‎﴿٧﴾‏ وَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ شَرًّا يَرَهُ ‎﴿٨﴾‏

8.

الْعَزِيزُ

AL-AZIZ

AlAziz

(The Mighty One)

 

The Strong, The Defeater, The One Who is not Defeated.

Al-Aziz is The One who is most powerful and all-strong. He is the conqueror that is never conquered and never harmed. This is because His strength, glory and power are overwhelming and cannot be overcome or resisted. He is the only one with complete mastery over all creation. The One who is the cherished source of all strength, power and potency.

From the root ‘-z-z which has the following classical Arabic connotations: to be mighty, potent, strong, powerful to be high, elevated, noble, exalted to be honorable, noble, glorious, illustrious to be indomitable, invincible to be respected, cherished, dear to be scarce, rare, precious, and unattainable.

It is He who forms you in the wombs however He wills. There is no deity except Him, the Exalted in Might, the Wise. (Quran 3:6)

هُوَ الَّذِي يُصَوِّرُكُمْ فِي الْأَرْحَامِ كَيْفَ يَشَاءُ ۚ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ ‎﴿٦﴾‏

Rather, Allah raised him to Himself. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise. (Surah Nisa Quran 4:158)

بَل رَّفَعَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمًا ‎﴿١٥٨﴾‏

And to Allah belong the soldiers of the heavens and the earth. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise. (Quran 48:7)

وَلِلَّهِ جُنُودُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمًا ‎﴿٧﴾

If you do not aid the Prophet – Allah has already aided him when those who disbelieved had driven him out [of Makkah] as one of two, when they were in the cave and he said to his companion, “Do not grieve; indeed Allah is with us.” And Allah sent down his tranquillity upon him and supported him with angels you did not see and made the word of those who disbelieved the lowest, while the word of Allah – that is the highest. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise. (Quran 9:40)

إِلَّا تَنصُرُوهُ فَقَدْ نَصَرَهُ اللَّهُ إِذْ أَخْرَجَهُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا ثَانِيَ اثْنَيْنِ إِذْ هُمَا فِي الْغَارِ إِذْ يَقُولُ لِصَاحِبِهِ لَا تَحْزَنْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَنَا ۖ فَأَنزَلَ اللَّهُ سَكِينَتَهُ عَلَيْهِ وَأَيَّدَهُ بِجُنُودٍ لَّمْ تَرَوْهَا وَجَعَلَ كَلِمَةَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا السُّفْلَىٰ ۗ وَكَلِمَةُ اللَّهِ هِيَ الْعُلْيَا ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ ‎﴿٤٠﴾‏

9.

الْجَبَّارُ

AL-JABBAR

AlJabar

 

(The Omnipotent One)

The One that nothing happens in His Dominion except that which He willed

Al Jabbar is the highest, whatever he decrees will come to pass without fail. He restores all of creation. He heals the broken hearted, binds their wounds, brings comfort to the weak. He compels each and everything to his divine will but is never Himself compelled.

From the root j-b-r which has the following classical Arabic connotations: to restore something to sound, right or good state to bring back to normal, reform to benefit, to confer a benefit to be supreme, high, above all of creation to be compelling, irresistible.

He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him. ( Quran 59:23)

هُوَ اللَّهُ الَّذِي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْمَلِكُ الْقُدُّوسُ السَّلَامُ الْمُؤْمِنُ الْمُهَيْمِنُ الْعَزِيزُ الْجَبَّارُ الْمُتَكَبِّرُ ۚ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ ‎﴿٢٣﴾

And you do not will except that Allah wills. Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Wise. ( Quran 76:30)

وَمَا تَشَاءُونَ إِلَّا أَن يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا ‎﴿٣٠﴾‏

 “Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense.” (Quran 26:78-82)

الَّذِي خَلَقَنِي فَهُوَ يَهْدِينِ ‎﴿٧٨﴾‏ وَالَّذِي هُوَ يُطْعِمُنِي وَيَسْقِينِ ‎﴿٧٩﴾‏ وَإِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِينِ ‎﴿٨٠﴾‏ وَالَّذِي يُمِيتُنِي ثُمَّ يُحْيِينِ ‎﴿٨١﴾‏ وَالَّذِي أَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لِي خَطِيئَتِي يَوْمَ الدِّينِ ‎﴿٨٢﴾‏

Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me.Allah is omnipotent, he does answer to anyone. “He is not questioned about what He does, but they will be questioned.” (Quran 21:23)

لَا يُسْأَلُ عَمَّا يَفْعَلُ وَهُمْ يُسْأَلُونَ ‎﴿٢٣﴾‏

10.

الْمُتَكَبِّرُ

AL-MUTAKABBIR

AlMutakabir

(The Dominant One)

 

The One who is clear from the attributes of the creatures and from resembling them.

Al-Mutakabbir is the supremely great. He is exalted far above all creation. He has rights and privileges and attributes which others do not have. He is truly great and manifests this greatness in all things and in many ways.

From the root k-b-r which in Classical Arabic means:to be great in size, rank or dignity to be great in size, to be vast, formidable to be great in age, oldest to be great in dignity, noble, majestic to be great in learning, most knowing to have rights above all others

He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him. (Quran 59:23

هُوَ اللَّهُ الَّذِي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْمَلِكُ الْقُدُّوسُ السَّلَامُ الْمُؤْمِنُ الْمُهَيْمِنُ الْعَزِيزُ الْجَبَّارُ الْمُتَكَبِّرُ ۚ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ ‎﴿٢٣﴾

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, “Allah the Almighty said: Pride is my cloak and greatness is my garment, so whoever competes with me regarding these two will be thrown into the Hellfire.”

Further mentioned of Allah detesting prideful people in The Quran “In order that you not despair over what has eluded you and not exult [in pride] over what He has given you. And Allah does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful” (Quran 57:23).

(The Creator)

The One who brings everything from non-existence to existence

Al Khaaliq is the one who creates things from nothing with no precedents. He creates what He pleases and in a perfect manner. He is the only one who determines when, how and what to create and does so from nothing.

Mentions From The Quran & Hadith

Root kh-l-q which has the following classical Arabic connotations:

to measure accurately to determine the proper measure or proportion for something, to proportion one thing according to another, to create something based on a pattern or model which one has devised, to bring a thing into existence from non-existence. 

Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is, over all things, Disposer of affairs. (Quran 39:62)

اللَّهُ خَالِقُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ ۖ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَكِيلٌ ‎﴿٦٢﴾

 That is Allah, your Lord; there is no deity except Him, the Creator of all things, so worship Him. And He is Disposer of all things. (Quran 6:102)

ذَٰلِكُمُ اللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ ۖ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ خَالِقُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ فَاعْبُدُوهُ ۚ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَكِيلٌ ‎﴿١٠٢﴾

Is not He who created the heavens and the earth Able to create the likes of them? Yes, [it is so]; and He is the Knowing Creator. (Quran 36:81)

أَوَلَيْسَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ بِقَادِرٍ عَلَىٰ أَن يَخْلُقَ مِثْلَهُم ۚ بَلَىٰ وَهُوَ الْخَلَّاقُ الْعَلِيمُ ‎﴿٨١﴾‏

That is Allah, your Lord, Creator of all things; there is no deity except Him, so how are you deluded? (Quran 40:62)

ذَٰلِكُمُ اللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ خَالِقُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ لَّا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُؤْفَكُونَ ‎﴿٦٢﴾
